Peter started out in the workforce as an Engineering Draughtsperson for a large whitewhare company in Masterton. He left in 1980 to peruse a career in the Fire Service in Masterton then Hamilton, which included 4 years in the Fire Safety Department as a fire safety officer and fire investigator. With the introduction of the Building Act 1991, Peter could see a real need for a specialized fire safety design consultancy so in May 1995 he started pcd Peter C Dunkin, which then became Fire Designs Ltd in November 2004. Peters combined 30 years involved in the ‘fire industry’ enables him to provide his clients with the best possible fire safety and accessibility design outcomes ensuring that the clients expectations are achieved.

Peter’s main role within the business today is to lead the design team and facilitate between Fire Designs and Clients to ensure they receive a high level of service and that their desired design outcomes are achieved.
